New England FruitConsultants
Profile: Glenn Morin

In addition to the daily responsibilities working with crop-consulting clients and the research farm, Glenn has extensive experience serving on regional and national steering committees, advisory committees and executive boards where he has represented both crop consulting specifically and production agriculture more broadly. Both EPA and the USDA have sought his expertise on key environmental and agricultural topics. Glenn was selected Crop Consultant of the Year in 2002 by the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants. For the past 15 years, he has organized and served as chair for the Northeast Crop Consultants Conference, the premier information exchange venue between professional, independent crop consultants and industry representatives in the Northeast.
Glenn Morin, Entomologist, Research Director, and co-owner of New England Fruit Consultants received his B.S. in Zoology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After graduating from UMass, Glenn worked for several years with the UMass Apple Integrated Pest Management project, under the direction of Dr. Ronal Prokopy. Upon termination of the 5-year grant, Glenn and his partner, Roberta (Robin) Spitko, founded New England Fruit Consultants, an independent agricultural consulting firm based in western Massachusetts.
In addition to providing crop-production information to tree fruit growers in CT, MA, NH, NY and VT, Glenn has extensive experience in many other aspects of the tree fruit industry. As Research Director for New England Fruit Consultants, he is responsible for efficacy studies with pest-control products, herbicides, growth regulators and harvest aids. Based on the results of these studies, he interfaces with the agricultural chemical industry and universities, helping the registrant define market placement for new products, as well as helping the universities and tree fruit-growers incorporate new products into existing IPM programs. Glenn also has extensive experience in the packing, shipping and brokering of apples due to his 15 year tenure with the J. P. Sullivan Co., the largest apple broker in the Northeast.
